Grade 3/4 Students

Celebrating our tremendous Threes and fabulous Fours !

3/4A - Miss Lee

Narrative Writing

3/4A have been working in groups to add to the series of books, The Very Cranky Bear.

They have written:

The Very Silly Bear

The Not So Very Clever Bear

The Very Annoying Bear

The Very Clumsy Bear

We look forward to having these narratives included in our class library very soon.

3/4B - Miss Brook

Some amazing bookwork from April and Eliza during our Addition Unit in Maths this week. The girls both showed very sophisticated Maths thinking to solve these equations while still making sure to do their best work with neat number formation and remembering to record 1 number or symbol per box. Absolutely spectacular!

3/4C - Mr Lewis

To begin our new Maths unit on subtraction, the students created their own subtraction maths monsters. This involved inputting  numbers, applying a chosen subtraction rule and calculating the outputting result, as seen here in Osha’s example.

The students have been practising narrative writing. Some of the things the students have been paying particular focus on is creating sizzling starts and using descriptive language, as seen here in Mikaela’s writing sample.

3/4D - Mr Mitch

Isla S showcases her opening paragraphs for the persuasive topic ‘Dogs are better than cats’. Do you agree?

This week we reintroduced subtraction to our students. The students created a subtraction monster which takes away numbers when they enter the body. Pictured Gus N.

3/4E - Ms Margarita

We are wrapping up our Addition unit in 3/4E so students completed a portfolio task demonstrating some of the strategies they have mastered. They were asked to draw a shape, put numbers in each corner and then calculate the total using the most appropriate strategies. Students showed split strategy, jump strategy, ten facts, doubles/near doubles and vertical algorithm with regrouping. Some students also used the strategies to work with decimals and fractions- WOW!
