Cooking:

It’s has been so wonderful being in the kitchen with Foundation, Year 1’s and Year 2’s. They are all really enjoying their cooking classes and learning lots. We have been learning some new skills and have even been practicing chopping, using butter knives to cut capsicum and cherries. This week 1A looked at the literacy words we used during our lesson and added them to our Kitchen Word Wall…sifting, mixing, chopping, whisking.

We love having parent helpers in the kitchen, as they really make a big difference to how the class runs. So, if you can spare an hour to help out sometime, we would really appreciate it.

Gardening:

It's never a dull moment in the Montmorency Primary kitchen garden. We've been harvesting Jerusalem artichokes, planting alliums and propagating mint cuttings. Surprisingly, the actiity that generates the most excitement is always snail hunting. You'd think that we'd be all out of snails by now considering that we have 7 classes on the hunt each week. But, there seems to be an ever-lasting supply of those hungry and destructive molluscs - lucky we have our students to lend a helping hand.
