Some Suggested Family Conversations

Last week I proposed some prompts that might open up some interesting family conversations. The response was positive, so I will take this chance to offer a few more!

  • Regarding Lent: I gave up chocolate for Lent, but I’ve been sneaking some at school when my parents don't know what is happening. Does that make me a bad person?
  • Regarding Winter sport trials: I was easily the best football player at my primary school, and I’ve been put into the ‘E’ Football team. I should be in the ‘As’! This is so unfair! What should I do?
  • Regarding current affairs: Who are SES volunteers and why do they do what they do in the community?
  • Regarding consent: My classmate has a really valuable Pokemon card. At recess I see he is surrounded by a group of ‘cool’ kids trying to pressure him to swap it. He doesn’t want to but they’re really persistent. He doesn’t look very comfortable. What should I do?
  • Regarding respecting rules: School drop-off after 8.00am is strictly in the Kiss and Drop zone only, however, the line-up is long and joining it will make Dad late for work. He tells me to hop out of the car on Hydebrae Street. What should I do?

Term 1 Interim Reports

Many thanks for all the messages we have received after the publication of the Term 1 Interim reports through the Parent Portal. The support of the parent community is very important to us and we try hard to maintain open communication in your son’s best interests. If you have any questions or would like to bring something to our attention after reading the report with your son, please contact his class teacher. As always, families are more than welcome to contact me at any time, too.

Best wishes,
