Co-curricular - Junior Sport

Well, that was not the way I was hoping to end the first half of the Junior School Summer Season. Due to rain and travel warnings for Greater Sydney, all Junior School fixtures were cancelled. I hope that everyone has endured the rain and have come out of the weekend relatively unscathed. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents, carers and families that came out to support the boys and their teams. In some tough conditions and our current global situation, your support has been unwavering and certainly goes a long way to creating the positive, fun environment that allows the boys to put in their best each weekend.

With the summer season now concluded for Term 1, parents/carers are reminded that there will be no afterschool training for the remainder of the term. The cross-country team and those interested in keeping fit will still train Tuesday and Thursday mornings until the end of term. Boys need to be at the College ready to run at 7.45am. Boys must have their College uniform with them to change into after training in the morning.

Congratulations to Vincent Pappalardo of Year 6 Green on his selection into the NSWCIS Primary Diving Team. Vincent competed in the 11 Years Boys Spring and Platform Competitions. With improvements in his scores from the IPSHA Carnival, Vincent is well prepared for the PSSA competition to held on Wednesday 31 March. We wish him all the best.

This Friday will be the date for Junior School Winter Sport Trials. All trials will be held during school time on the College ovals (weather permitting). In the event of rain or ground closures, an alternative date will be communicated if required. Fingers crossed for some kinder weather in the next few days. Please see the schedule below.

All boys trialing for Rugby and AFL will require their mouthguards for the trials. Boys trialing for football (soccer) will require their shin pads. Boys wishing to trial as goalkeepers will need to supply their own gloves. For the purpose of trials, boys will not be permitted to wear boots on the day.

Due to the short turn-around from summer to winter sports and the limited opportunity for trials, boys will be reviewed in their teams over the first three weeks of the competition (Term 2) and adjustments will be made, as necessary.

Looking forward to seeing all the boys out on the field this Friday for our first look at the winter sporting season.
