Out of school hours care

A message from CEO BIG CHILDCARE

Dear families,

Big Childcare is actively monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and are taking steps to help keep our communities safe. We are working closely with the relevant governing departments and adhering to all advice accordingly. The safety and well-being of our children, staff and families is our priority.

As we all adjust to new precautions, we want to highlight a few actions we are taking:

All staff, children and visitors are encouraged to practise efficient and effective hygiene, including covering their nose and mouth every time they cough or sneeze into their elbow or a tissue and disposing of the tissue immediately.

All staff, children and visitors are advised to wash their hands regularly with soap for at least 20 seconds, every 30 minutes.

  • Increased cleaning and sanitisation of our services.
  • Staff will be taking all precautions when preparing food, wearing gloves and sanitizing appropriately.

Additional hand sanitisers and supplies have been ordered for our services.

We are requiring increased awareness and vigilance from staff.

Avoid unnecessary contact with others, such as handshaking.

Recommend minimum exclusion periods for staff, children and visitors if they are sick.

  • Keeping a log on all staff travel, particularly those that have been to and are considering high or moderate risk areas, will be advised to self-quarantine for a minimum of 14 days. (Destinations as updated daily by Smart Traveller Australia).
  • In the event that advice from the relevant Department body (including the Department of Education and Health) is received about a school closure which impacts before, after or vacation care, Big Childcare will endeavour to communicate this as efficiently as possible via email or text to all our families.

You also play an important role in helping prevent Coronavirus from entering our service.

If unwell, are a traveller from or transited through high risk countries, or have been in contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus; staff and students are asked not to attend our services for the required 14 days quarantine period and seek medical attention immediately. The primary care provider will liaise with the local public health authority to determine when it is safe for them to return to usual activities.

The situation is ever-evolving and Big Childcare is committed to the ongoing monitoring and implementation of precautionary health measures as necessary. We understand that you may still have some concerns or further questions about this, if so, please do not hesitate to contact you centre manager or our Head Office on 8682 9400.
