Today is… Le “Premier avril” (first of April)

In France, April Fools' Day is known for the “poisson d'avril” (April Fish).

A common prank, especially among school-aged children, is to draw or print out a fish and stick it to the back of unsuspecting victims. Once they discover the fish taped to their back, you can shout, “Poisson d’avril”

The tradition is several centuries old with some saying it started from unknowing people being sent to market to buy freshwater fish when they were not in season.

But all kinds of pranks are possible on “le premier avril”, especially fake news.

You better check your back today!
