Principal's message

Staffing update

This week Joanna finished up at Fitzroy Primary School and I wish to thank her for doing an amazing job in the Kitchen Garden and for supporting students during remote learning last year. I wish her the very best in her future gardening endeavours at Cultivating Communities.

BSL Homework Club starting in term 2

Next term the Brotherhood of St. Laurence will run an after school homework club for selected students and their parents to support children’s academic, social and emotional development. They will also be running a social group for parents of children who are attending the homework club. We are very grateful to the wonderful staff at BSL for connecting with our school to support our children and their families.

Capital Works Program update

This week I met with the VSBA, ROAM Architects and a DET regional representative to discuss the capital works project. Project milestones and key program dates were outlined, as well as tasks that are completed as part of the Asset Management Plan (AMP) phase 2. In phase 2, master planning and design will continue through to November with community consultation taking place this term. Architects from ROAM will be meeting with me during the school holidays for a site inspection and to plan upcoming consultative meetings for parents/carers and staff. Once finalised, these dates will be communicated through Compass, the calendar and in future newsletters for any interested parents who wish to join the conversation about the project. After the master planning phase has been completed and approved, tender processes and contracts take over before construction begins. With that in mind, it is anticipated that construction will commence in approximately 12 months time if the planning and tendering phrases run according to the current schedule. I look forward to working with the architects from ROAM in the next important phase of the project.

Parents and carers club – starting term two

Next term Anab will be running a Parents and Carers Club every Friday morning from 9 – 9:45am. This is an opportunity for parents to connect with each other and to share important information about the school in languages other than English. The first meeting will be on Friday 30th April in the Napier St Hall. All parents are welcome to attend.

Safe and happy holidays

A huge congratulations to all students and teachers for working so hard throughout a ‘normal’ term one. I am continually impressed by the outstanding work that our children do on a daily basis and acknowledge the huge amount of work that our teachers do to ensure that all children are learning and developing to the best of their ability. I hope that everyone enjoys a well deserved break and I look forward to seeing you for the start of term two on Monday 19th April.
