From The Principal's Desk

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to Term 2.  We hope you all had a great break with family and friends.

On Sunday 25th April our school leaders and Ms Mennen attended the ANZAC day service.   It was a restricted event this year and one that we hope will return to the larger numbers of attendees we have seen previously. The students leaders laid a wreath at the cenotaph along with many others. I would like to thank Ms Mennen for organising this and the school leaders for their commitment.

Tutoring in the new portable

As of this week we have moved into our new portable for our tutoring program.  The new portable will be used for future classrooms as Delacombe PS continues to grow and will be become our Grade 5 centre over time.

Handover date for STADIUM Thursday 13th May

As of Thursday 13th May the new STADIUM will be handed over to us. This hopefully will mean that our Grade 3-4’s will have access to the new playground and about 75% of their play areas.  We are looking forward to the opening of our stadium and our first assembly in the stadium will be on Wednesday 26th May.

We have two events scheduled for the use in the new stadium :

Thursday 13th May  (DATE CHANGE)– the Ballarat Young Authors’ launch at 4.00pm – 5.15pm at the new stadium

Thursday 13th May – 'You’ve got Mail' movie – 6.15pm

One of the features of the new stadium will be the selling of CAFÉ style coffee and hot chocolate from the canteen window. It will be open prior to school starting each day.

Below are some pictures to view of the current progress of the new stadium.

GRADE 4 CAMP 2021

On Monday 17th May we will have our Grade 4s heading to Cave Hill Creek.  Unfortunately last year we were unable to run this camp, so we are looking forward to going on this one!

NAPLAN - Literacy & Numeracy Testing

It’s that time of year again and on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday of week 5 our grade 3 and grade 5 students participate in NAPLAN (National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy) testing. The current areas covered will be Language Conventions, Writing, Reading and Numeracy.

TUESDAY 11th WEDNESDAY 12th THURSDAY 14th
LANGUAGE CONVENTIONS & WRITING READING NUMERACY

If you feel that your child will not benefit from the NAPLAN testing it is important to have that discussion with your child’s classroom teacher before NAPLAN commences .

NAPLAN test results add to the bank of knowledge developed for each child, so we encourage the participation of as many students as possible.  If you have any further queries please contact your child’s teacher.
