From the Primary School

Thank you to the band from South Australia Police for visiting Blackfriars recently and performing to the R-6 boys

From the Primary School

The term is rapidly moving along with many activities and events either completed or to come.

As it was Science Week (as well as Catholic Schools Open Week) many activities based around science occurred. The Forensic Science Team came to talk to our Year 3-6 boys and enthralled and fascinated the boys. The teachers too undertook various and engaging tasks (as they always do).

The Year 1 boys programmed their Beebots to navigate a map. The boys had to use the coding cards to create an algorithm that would move their Bee Bot from point A to B. The Receptions made their own rockets too! (See below). The Year 6 boys in the picture have made a circuit connected to a computer so information is read out at the touch of a button (much like interactive stations in museums and the like). Both are but two great examples of how to engage boys in their learning.

St Dominic’s Day is always a special time at Blackfriars. The beautiful and meaningful mass attended by all our children from ELC to Year 12, plus visitors from other Dominican Schools, set the tone for a great day. The activities that followed were such great fun for all and raised valuable money for Dominican charities.

Still much to happen this term – see Dates to Remember!
