MASA Mathematics Quiz Night

On Wednesday 7 August our students participated in the MASA Mathematics Quiz night held in Frassati Hall. Students from around the state (USC, Marryatville, Adelaide High, St Aloysius', St Dominic’s) came to see who would be crowned as the number one team in areas of mathematics and general knowledge. The quiz was split into two categories, Junior (consisting of students in Year 10 and lower) and Senior (Years 11 and 12). Blackfriars had nine teams enter across both categories and won two sections of the Junior Division.

One team made up of Year 10 boys, Yemo Koo, Kevin Do, Jaimin Lim and Brandon Truong, topped the general knowledge.

Amazingly our team made up of younger students took out the top honours achieving the best score overall score and best score in Mathematics. This is a truly amazing feat considering that the other teams were generally much older. This team was made up of: Akshat Dev (Year 7), Angelo Dela Cruz (8), Hugh Caton (6) and Brian Vien (7).

Thank you to all students who came out for the night, and also a big thank you to all of the staff from our school who helped me with organising the night.
