Library News
Well Book Week is fast approaching, and the library team are busy getting ready for the Morning Quiz, the Guessing Competition, and various other library activities. There will be a Book Week assembly for the Primary students on Friday 23 August, and the winners of the various competitions will be announced then. Thank you to all the boys who submitted photos for the PowerPoint presentation. It was lovely to see some very imaginative poses in some interesting locations!
As to the Guessing the Book competition, it will be interesting to see if anyone gets 10/10 for this. There is a Senior version as well as a Primary one, and I encourage all students to have a go. A person could win with only 5/10 correct!
In the primary library we have been reading some of the books that have been shortlisted for the Children’s Book Council Book of the Year Awards. These include Chalk Boy by Margaret Wilde, Tricky’s Bad Day by Alison Lester, and Rainbow Bear by Stephen Michael King. A wonderful range of stories to fuel the imagination.
The shortlisted books for Older Readers in the senior library are also worth a read, and I would say Lenny’s Book of Everything is my favourite. A truly heart-warming story.
A final reminder that the Premier’s Reading Challenge closes at the end of next week, so please use these next few days to keep reading and get your forms in on time.
Thank you.
