On the 5 December, three Copperfield College teams participated in the VEX Robotics Nationals in Adelaide. The year 11 team from Delahey won will now go to internationals once again next Year.
The first day of the Nationals Competition, all robots were checked in and measured to make sure they were inside the height, width and length limit.
The Year 8 robotics girls team went to a girl powered workshop hosted by Ford. We learnt that robots are programmed to build cars in the Ford factory more efficiently than humans can. We were then sent off to make a car powered only by rubberbands.
Prior to every game we met up with our alliances to talk and work out our game strategies. We then practiced on the practice fields which were available at the venue for each team to use . The teams practice in order to better our skills at working with one another for matches. The more the robots can work together, the better the outcome of the matches will be.
The second day of the competition was spent playing our final games and displaying 'skills'. 'Skills' is when you show how well you can drive and/or program your own robot to get points on the field.
The Year 11 and 9 teams made it to the finals. Unfortunately the Year 8 team did not make finals. The competition was on when the Year 11 and Year 9 team had to go up against each other in the semifinals. The Year 11 team won the semifinals where they moved onto the grand final. We are very proud to announce that they won. Winning a spot at internationals in Kentucky.
After the finals, the awards were given out and it was announced that Copperfield College's Year 11 team had won the excellence award, earning them another spot at the Internationals. Sadly, the other two teams did not make it into internationals. On a brighter note, we wish the best of luck to the Year 11 Team on their adventure to the International Competitions in Kentucky next year.

We are very proud of all of our students that participated in the VEX Robotics National Competition in Adelaide on the weekend of December 8 and 9. The students were great ambassadors for Copperfield College. They supported each other and other teams. They demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, problem solving skills and they worked cooperatively over the weekend and were respectful to all.
Congratulations go to Alana, Stephanie, Talia, Christopher, Kayne, Darren, Anthony, Anthony, Salvatore, Spencer for making it to the national competition.
The Year 9 group of Chris and Kayne showed excellent skills making it through to the semi-finals.
Special congratulations to the National Championship winners: Salvatore, Anthony, Darren, Anthony and Spencer. This team also won the Excellence Award. These awards mean that they have qualified to participate in the World VEX Robotics Championship in Louisville, Kentucky in April, 2020.
