Donate your phones to save the Gorillas

Take the Green Pathway

Our world is at risk due to every single action that we take; our improper disposal of batteries, electronic devices and ink are affecting the environment because of the toxic chemicals contained in them. These chemicals damage wildlife and sea life when leaked to the ecosystem as well as us taking the resources in certain places to make electronic devices such as mobile phones.

Due to these implications, mountain gorillas are facing habitat loss. As a result, gorillas come into contact more frequently with humans, increasing the likelihood of competition for space or resources and with increased human activity, gorillas have increased exposure to human illnesses, such as the flu, some of which can be fatal.

Coltan is a mineral used to make our mobile phones and it is mined in locations including critical habitat for Eastern Lowland Gorillas in Central Africa.

To save the mountain gorillas from mass extinction, we are joining the phone cycle program run by Melbourne zoo. In this program, your phone will be saved from landfill, with some or all components able to be recycled or re-used. By recycling through this program, you also raise important funds for gorilla conservation. This program supports the Gorilla Doctors, which helps treat ill and injured gorillas in Africa.
