Junior School News

Term 3

The Junior School has had a busy term with an athletics day, sport competitions, excursions, incursions and many more events taking place. We would like to wish all Junior School families an enjoyable holiday break and look forward to seeing everyone back in term 4.

Melbourne Day Year 7

On Friday 30 August 114 Year 7s attended the Melbourne Day - 184th birthday celebration. The students were bussed into Enterprize Park where they watched the Melbourne Day Flag Raising Ceremony, enjoyed a cupcake, received a showbag and enjoyed their time outside in the sun. It was a great way to spend the morning.

Debating Team

Congratulations to the 22 Year 7 and 8 students who took part in the debating competition over the last month. The students did a great job supporting each other and they have all gained in confidence and in their public speaking skills. Well done girls. A big thank you to Janine Gollant for helping and  supervising these girls during this last term.

Equipped for the great outdoors

Candice and Elloise Prior (Year 8) have ensured there are big adventures ahead for fellow students. They won $500 of Anaconda vouchers for their school. From a family of keen campers and lovers of the outdoors they were at their local store and took the initiative to enter MGSC in a competition by writing why their school deserved to win sporting and outdoor equipment. We are so glad they did. The PE and Outdoor Education staff are very excited and planning how to put this unexpected bonus to good use. Thank you Candice and Elloise.

Mentone's got talent – Year 8 Hip-Hop

Well done to the Year 8 girls who have completed a unit on hip-hop dance this term. After learning some fantastic moves the girls designed and performed their own routines. The winning group from each class then performed in our own Mentone's Got Dance Talent competition. In an extremely tight competition. The winning group was a combination from 8A - Lily Shipham, Skye Ferguson, Flip Leighton, Charlotte Badley, Georgia Vicary and Jacinta Gallagher. Congratulations.
