ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS’ REPORT

PARENT-TEACHER-STUDENT INTERVIEW BOOKINGS

Parent-Teacher Interviews are fast approaching, with the interviews for VCE students on Wednesday 2 April.  Interviews for year 7 – 10 students are early in Term 2. These interviews provide a great opportunity to discuss your child’s progress at school, to celebrate their successes and set goals for further improvement.  We very strongly encourage all students to attend and participate in these interviews.

Bookings will be made online using Compass; all parents will receive email notification when bookings can be made.  If you have difficulty logging on to Compass, please contact the General Office.

On the day of Parent-Teacher Interviews, classes will finish early (at 2:30pm).  School will start late on the morning after the interviews with period 1 commencing at 9:55am (students should arrive at school by 9:30am).

CASUAL DRESS DAY

Our casual dress day for Term 1 will be held on Tuesday 18 March.  Students will need to bring $2 to form assembly on that day.  Please ensure your child wears safe, sturdy footwear on casual dress day – thongs and open-toed sandals or shoes are not appropriate.

STUDENT DIARIES

Parents are reminded to check their children’s school diaries regularly.  All students should be making entries for all their subjects each day.  They are required to record whether homework is given, what tasks are required and when they are due.  If no specific tasks are set for homework, students should revise and prepare for approaching assessment tasks, such as tests and exams.  Students who have difficulty using their diary appropriately, revising effectively and completing homework on time should approach their Student Managers for assistance and support.

PHOTO DAY

Student photos were taken on Friday 14 February.  Arthur Reed Photos will take approximately 3 to 4 weeks to complete orders, which will be distributed at school as soon as they arrive.  Students who did not bring the photo envelope and money on this day can order their photos online or by phone on 5243 4390.

PERSONAL LEARNING GOALS

Each semester students in years 7 - 10 are required to complete personal learning goals, reflecting on their strengths and weaknesses, as well as strategies they can employ to improve their academic progress.  Completing these goals allows teachers and parents to support student learning.

These goals are to be completed by students on Compass, following a set of instructions emailed to all students.  On Compass, parents will be able to see students' responses to the set questions - click Student Profile → Reports → Personal Learning Goals - Semester 1.  Please encourage your son/daughter to complete this task as soon as possible, and discuss with them how they can achieve their best at school.  When setting their goals, students should reflect on the advice provided by teachers in class so far this year.
