TERM 3 - WEEK 4

To the St Nicholas School Community,

St Philomena’s School Moree - Visit

On Monday and Tuesday this week, five staff from St Philomena’s Moree visited St Nicholas School to learn from St Nicholas’ practices, processes and structures in Stage 3. In opening our doors to support others, St Nicholas’ recognises the valuable opportunity to utilise the skills sets and strengths of our visitors.

On Tuesday, the St Philomena’s team led our students and Year 5 teachers through an inquiry based Mathematics lesson. This engaging lesson was not only enjoyable, it provided a different context and dynamic on how, as teachers, we can support our students in reaching their mathematical outcomes and targets. Thank you St Philomena’s Moree!

Athletics Carnival

I trust you enjoyed yesterday's fantastic Athletics Carnival. The weather set the theme for a bright and warm event with sportsmanship and effort ever present. My thanks to all our parent helpers, whether on the barbecue or holding a measuring tape. My thanks to those who came to support their children being active. I would like to particularly thank Belinda Tyrrell for her dedication in preparing and coordinating a highly successful carnival.

In next week's newsletter a video will be present to showcase this fantastic day!

Farewell Katlin Kelly

This week we farewell Mrs Katlin Kelly on maternity leave. We are very fortunate to be able to replace Katlin with an experienced and very capable teacher in Katie Daley. On behalf of our school community I wish Katlin and Kirk the very best with the imminent arrival of their first child.

Science Week

This week Karen Dickie and her band of helpers have engaged our children with STEAM activities as part of Science Week, themed “Destination Moon”. In next week's newsletter this major event will be highlighted.

Parent Surveys

This week you should have received an email in regards to completing a survey from your perspective on the day to day operation of our school. It is essential to receive the parents' perspectives with our constant desire and demand for further school improvement. If you did not receive your email prompt you may follow this link  https://www.research.net/r/StNicholasTamworthPARENT2019

Young Family Parish Gathering

This Sunday there is a young families parish gathering at Endeavour Park. The gathering starts at 12.00pm and all are very welcome.

Book Fair

We look forward with great anticipation to next week's Book Fair, with a theme of “Reading is my Secret Power”. The library will be open between 8am and 4pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to support our students and their families. My thanks to Mrs Julie McGuirk for her preparations in coordinating this fantastic annual event.

Have a wonderful week.
