Upcoming School Review
Every four years, State schools undergo a School Review. The focus of the Review is to celebrate progress and forward plan in relation to goals and aims. As part of this process, student, staff and parent feedback is encouraged, welcomed and sort. The Principal class will be asking for such feedback via a survey, informal chats and formal workshops. Specific focus group workshops will be conducted in the morning and early evening on Tuesday 20th November. More information to follow.
2019 enrolments
We are heading into more serious planning for 2019, especially school structure, class sizes and teacher allocations. The Department of Education 'recommended' class sizes F to Year 6 - an average of 26 provided that the average class size of 21 at P-2 is maintained
We work incredibly hard to ensure class sizes are minimised and/or additional support programs and staff are in place is classes are larger.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the office.
School Concert survey
School Council is seeking feedback regarding this year's Concert and Art Show as well as future events. It would be greatly appreciated if families could please click the link below and share their point of view to assist with future planning. The survey should take no longer than 10 minutes. We thank you for your support.
Principal For a Day (PFAD)
On Thursday, 11 October, Principal class hosted a PFAD as part of an initiative lead by ACER (Australian Council for Educational Research). PFAD celebrates the importance of partnerships between schools, businesses and the community.
The person allocated to CSPS was Dr Prashant Sawant Product Development Manager of Swisse Wellness.
The key aims of the day were to increase awareness and interests around science education with primary school students and learn more about the needs and efforts of a school to implement science awareness.
Dr Sawant met with student leaders (including SSWarriors, isea icare, Lively Learning), Year 6 students embarking on Secondary school, staff leadership, specialist teachers and Principal class to learn more how we currently implement Science education, barriers and challenges and ways we could further extend our approach.
We look forward to where our professional relationship with Swisse Wellness may take us in the future.
Proud to be part of the Cranbourne South community
On Friday, 26 October, Rotary Cranbourne is holding its Annual Charity Golf Day at Settlers Run. Funds raised are going towards the installation of "The Lookout" playground (adjacent to the Cranbourne General Store).
"The Lookout" will include a mini golf area, sensory sandpit and invigoration of the Harmony Garden, designed and led by student leaders Tom Murphy, Zara Ogier, Hannah Bonella and Maddy Green.
We would appreciate Settlers Run residents to support this terrific event - the more that play golf, the more money raised.
Child Safe Standard 7: Strategies to promote child participation and empowerment
CSPS provides information and promotes the child safety standards to children and families in child/parent friendly and accessible ways.
At any stage, CSPS can arrange for an interpreter or translation of school material in the language of their choice.
Interpreter services are also available via the Australian Government's Translating and Interpreter Service (TIS National). For a full list of languages available please visit the TIS National website.
Staff carpark reminder
It has been bought to our attention that some families in our community are unfortunately no abiding by the Kiss and Go and staff carpark school process. Areas of concern are:
- Only families where support from the Principal has been gained, can use the staff carpark. All other families are to park elsewhere. Any car found in the carpark, NOT belonging to a staff member, will be asked to move their car.
- Families are to enter/exit the school from the path next to the concrete wall NOT the student 'wait' entrance (next to 1a classroom) or the gate between the staff carpark and Kiss and Go; this gate is for emergencies only.
- No cars or delivery vehicles are allowed to park or wait in the Kiss and Go Zone. This is a thoroughfare only between 8.45 - 9.00am and 3.30 - 3.45pm.
- Any individual who speaks poorly to a staff member will be reported to the Principal class.
- Additional signage of this area noting a Staff Carpark is being erected soon.
Student safety, not family convenience, is the first and foremost priority.
