Autism Inclusion Teacher

The year has started off busy for all Autism Inclusion Teachers across the state with the main focus of our role being about building on our own teaching expertise, knowledge and understanding of autism.

So far I have engaged in an online pre-workshop followed by a 2-day autism specific training run by the fantastic team from Positive Partnerships. Positive Partnerships provide current, relevant and evidence informed information through workshops and online resources. If you would like to build your own understanding of autism their website has a wide range of resources and online workshops for parents and carers.  https://www.positivepartnerships.com.au/

I have also attended a one day seminar presented by Professor Barry Carpenter focusing on neurodiversity and wellbeing. Professor Barry Carpenter is one of the world’s leading experts on severe, profound and complex learning disabilities, Autism and mental health. He held a series of lectures on Neurodiversity and Mental health, Neurodiversity and routes to learning, as well as Girls and Autism: new voices and perspectives. He explored new research and current thinking that can help positively impact educational delivery for learners with additional needs across South Australia.

I am looking forward to sharing the new knowledge and learning I have gained from these training opportunities with my colleagues in the future.

With kindness,
