Happy end of Week 10, Term 1 to all of our Angels!

I can't believe how quickly term 1 has flown by. I could not be more proud of how hard our school community; students, educators, administration and parent/carers have all worked together this term. I would like to take this time to wish you and your family a wonderful Easter weekend and a very well earned break! From all of us here at SMOTA may your Easter break be filled with nothing but love, happiness, joy and peace.

Our wonderful P&F Easter Raffle will be drawn next Monday the 3rd of April. There are many great prizes to be won & we are so lucky to have so many amazing businesses in Guyra that have shown their support toward this! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

In our last week of Term 1 there will be an Easter Liturgy on Wednesday the 5th of April at 2.30pm. Parents, family and friends are invited to attend and this Liturgy will be presented by students from K-Yr 6 in the Parochial Hall.

It will be the perfect opportunity to be a part of celebrating Easter and all the learning students have experienced about Holy Week. We hope to see you there!

We have just had confirmation from Warren Kelly from the Local Land Services of an event that Jane Mactier has been advocating for our students to attend, which is the release of the endangered bells turtles at near Tenterden Hall. A compass notification will be sent to 3/4 parents with further information on this today.  Please note this is not a school excursion, if parents want their child to attend they will need to make their own arrangements.  A huge thanks to Jane and Warren Kelly for making this opportunity possible.

A look at Term 2

Students will return to school on Monday the 24th of April to start another magnificent term here at SMOTA! Tuesday the 25th of April is the ANZAC day public holiday with no school on that day. The Guyra sub-branch of the RSL have invited our students to participate in the march down Bradley Street on Tuesday 25th April, and we would love to see as many students attending as possible. As this will be Term 2 full school winter uniform will be required to be worn if participating in the march. Form up will be at Fourways Service Centre at 10am.

The 2023 School Cross Country is to be held on Thursday the 27th of April at the Guyra Showgrounds where the P&F have generously offered to cater lunch. You will be able to find all relevant information on the compass event.

School photos are scheduled for Wednesday the 3rd of May.  Please ensure that your child/ren are in full school uniform and are at school by 9:00am at the latest, preferably earlier.  Please also ensure to complete your photo orders through the compass app. MSP Photography have sent all families an email regarding how to order your photos through the app. For any enquiries about ordering please contact MSP on (02) 6772 3519 or email newengland@msp.com.au

We would love for you to join us to celebrate all of the wonderful hardworking women in our lives on Wednesday the 10th of May for our Mothers Day Breakfast. More information will follow in the first week of term 2.

SAC - School Advisory Council Meeting

I would like to thank the 2022 SAC for their time support throughout last year. I am very much looking forward to working with the 2023 SAC Committee: Anthony Rosser, Sandy Hodgens, Mitchell Hope, Theresa Grills, Penny Furphy, Wendy Warner, Claire Welsh, Gayle Moses and Fr Stephen O'Shea.

Attendance

Every day at school counts, every minute counts!

  • Regular attendance at school is fundamental to student learning. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to achieve educational success and increase their career and life options.
  • Student attendance has been identified as an important aspect of a student’s wellbeing and failure to receive an education has been identified as a risk of harm factor.

If your child has to be absent from school, you must inform the school and provide a reason for your child’s absence. A small number of absences may be accepted by the principal.

  • Attend a special religious ceremony
  • Is required to attend to a serious and/or urgent family situation (e.g. a funeral)
  • Is too sick to go to school or has an infectious illness.

There are a number of options available to notify the school:

  • Enter an attendance note in Compass
  • Send an email to guyadmin@arm.catholic.edu.au
  • Call the school on 02 67791661
