 St Patrick’s Feast Day

17th March

What a beautiful and bright sight we saw across the community of St Luke’s last Friday! It was wonderful to see a splash of green throughout the school as we celebrated the Patron Saint of Ireland, St Patrick. Thank you St Luke’s for your donations. The money we raised will go towards Project Compassion. The donations allows Caritas Australia, the Catholic Agency for International Aid and Development, to work with local communities around the world to alleviate poverty, hunger, oppression and injustice.

The Annunciation

25th March

Tomorrow is a special feast day in the church. This painting by Leonardo da Vinci in 1472 depicts what the feast day celebrates.

This artwork is called ‘The Annunciation’. Annunciation means ‘announcement’.

It recalls the story of the angel Gabriel announcing to Mary that she was going to give birth to Jesus.

Lent

Lent is a time of prayer, almsgiving and fasting. These are the three pillars of Lent. Throughout our school there are a number of beautiful ‘Lenten Prayer Spaces’ that are visual reminders of this special time. Children have been learning about the thr pillars in class and reflecting on ways they can prepare for Easter.
