Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a huge two weeks at Somerville PS. Firstly I would like to congratulate all of our Grade 3 and 5 Students for their outstanding efforts with NAPLAN, over the last 3 years there has been a significant increase in our school’s results. At School Council as part of our Annual Report we were able to reflect on the growth of our Trend Data; Somerville PS was above State, Similar Schools and significantly above our own Trend data.

Our students have had an action packed Term; some of the activities our students have been involved in include:

  • Welcome to Country and Smoking ceremony
  • Swimming for students in 3-6 starts next week
  • Ambulance Incursions
  • Police in Schools Incursions
  • Excursions to the Somerville Fire Station
  • Excursions to indigenous spaces
  • Marine ambassador excursions, swimming with dolphins and seals.
  • Gymnastics Incursions
  • Colour Fun Run
  • Family Picnic
  • Family fun Night
  • Pet Safety Incursion
  • Lightening Prem coming up

Our Student Leaders are ready and looking forward to National Ride to School Day, Lachie Smith will be running Bike Education for our students in Grades 3-6 later in the year. Following all the disruption to normal programs, it will be wonderful to see this invaluable program back for our students.

Thank you to our FoSP team for their outstanding organisation for the Meal Deal tomorrow, following today’s rain, I am sure all students will be very excited to have a lovely lunch!  We are pleased to see so many students flying through their Reading Nights, we have many students already over 75 nights. Our Easter Raffle tickets are now on sale, we hope this will be our biggest raffle yet so please remember to donate some easter eggs if you are able to and thank you to those that have already donated.  We look forward to seeing everyone at the Easter Bonnet Parade on Thursday the 6th April at 9:00am.

Reading Nights

Congrats to all of those students that have reached the first milestone of 50 nights reading, keep up the good work!
