Blended Learning
A number of Clemes classes are taking part in a pilot Blended Learning (BL) program. As a school we are aware that education is rapidly changing and students are increasingly learning in a combination of face-to-face and virtual environments, particularly in tertiary institutions. We also know that many students thrive when they are given more choice and flexibility in their learning.
Each week, students in a BL class are given one asynchronous lesson that they can work on in their own time, and at their own pace, provided it is completed by the end of that week. Students have been enrolled in an additional hour of supervised study time to support this.
There is extensive evidence to support a Blended Learning Model and we are working hard to make this pilot a success.
Some resources on the use of different blended learning models include:
- MIT: The Five Benefits of Asynchronous Learning
- 5 Major Benefits of Blended Learning
- Blended Learning Effectiveness: The relationship between student characteristics, design features and outcomes

TCE reasonable adjustments
If your child received adjustments for their Year 10 or 11 exams last year at Friends’, their needs are known and I will be making contact with them in the next few weeks to have them sign the documentation for TASC.
If you are new to the school and feel your child is eligible for reasonable adjustments, or they have had a diagnosis since the cut off for adjustments last year, please reach out to Jane Morrison.
