The Japanese  Word of the Fortnight

おなかぺこぺこ (‘onaka peko peko’), which means hungry/starving’, is the Japanese Word for Week 9 & 10 of Term 1. It is a casual way of saying ‘hungry/starving’. You can simply use ‘おなかぺこぺこ’ (‘onaka peko peko’) when you are hungry/starving.

Thank you / ありがとうございます (pronounced ‘aligatoh gozaimas’) for your continuing support for our Japanese program.

ANZAC Appeal

The ANZAC Appeal is a major fundraising campaign to raise money to support veterans and their families. The RSL supports veterans and their families who have been impacted by their service and sacrifice. This special fundraising campaign allows Australians to give back to those who have given so much for us all.Your generous support enables the RSL to provide a wide range of support services to veterans and their families in their time of need.

Through the ANZAC Appeal, the RSL can help every veteran and family member who reaches out for support in a variety of areas.

Our grade 6 students will be going around to the classrooms selling badges, wristbands, pens and other items to support the Appeal until our supplies run out.

Please show your support by donating to the ANZAC Appeal.

HARMONY DAY -- MONDAY 3rd APRIL

Hello Parents, Carers, Students and extended members of the Valkstone Community,

On Monday the 3rd of April, Valkstone will be holding a dress up and gold coin donation event for Harmony Day!

Orange is the colour of Harmony Day, so students can wear orange or traditional dress from their native country, however no sporting jerseys please. (There will be a chance to wear those later in the year. )

With the money that the students bring, we will line the coins up to make an enjoyable and exciting snake pattern in each grade. We will then measure and add the length to our school tally. Each time we hold a gold coin donation day, we will endeavour to make longer snakes!

Valkstone has recognised this as a fantastic opportunity to send all proceeds to the dire earthquake situation in Türkiye and Syria.

Thanks for your support.
