Egg & Spoon Relay Race for Caritas Australia (Project Compassion)

On Thursday 16th March the Faith and Mission Committee hosted an 'Egg and Spoon Relay Race'. It was a great effort by Homeroom Teachers and House Leaders to recruit our participants, with each House battling it out to see which team won’t ‘crack’ under pressure! Many students put their concentration skills to the test — relaying their egg back and forth across the South Grass. After the team completed their race, they were asked to solve a question, based on the story of Priscilla from Zimbabwe, who is the focus of Project Compassion for this week.

Special thanks to all Staff who supported the event through their time, presence and resources. Well done to the students who participated in their House Teams! Congratulations to Solomon who came in first place, followed by Tenison in second, Woods in third and Xavier in fourth.

Professional Learning: Leadership for Mission in a Catholic School

Late last week I attended two days of professional learning at Catherine McAuley College (St Mary’s Campus) Bendigo, led by Reverend Associate Professor Michael A Kelly CSsR. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the history of Catholic education in Australia and how it developed over time to our present context. There was lots of valuable discussion amongst participants, particularly around the characteristics of effective leaders and how these approaches can be used in our schools. A highlight was listening to the unique ways educators across Victoria have integrated faith within their curriculums, beyond the Religious Education classroom. Special thanks to the Missionary Sisters of Service for sponsoring my attendance to this subject.
