ART

In Art last week, the Foundation and Grade 1/2s had been investigating caterpillars and butterflies in real life with some Monarch caterpillars from Mrs Hill’s garden. We looked at what caterpillars had such as legs and hairy parts and then the Foundation students created some of their own caterpillars with oil pastels. They were fantastic! The 1/2 students showed off their amazing blending techniques with pastels and pencils after looking at the vibrant colours and patterns of butterflies wings.

The 3/4 students have been working on a sculpture project with a technique called low relief cardboard sculpture after learning and exploring the element of depth and texture in artworks. The sculptures they have made have been incredible and we can’t wait to show them off when they are finished.

The 5/6 students have begun working on another type of sculpture working with wire to create insects. We are about to begin our Easter bonnet decorating which is always exciting and lots of fun. We are looking forward to our Easter bonnet parade on the last Wednesday of the term to show off our creations!

STEM

This week we continued on with the importance of ordering steps correctly.  We used Mr Potato Head puzzles and gave each other instructions on how to create Mr Potato Head. We made some pretty crazy Potato Heads and soon realised the importance of being very detailed and specific with our instructions. Next week it is time to move on to exploring with the Bee Bots - we can’t wait!!!!!

SPORT

Congratulations to Isla, Zac and Caleb who participated in the Campaspe Tennis Trials. We are so proud of the way in which they represented our school!
