The Principal's Desk

Dear parents, families and friends

What a busy 8 weeks it has been with so many wonderful events that truly showcases what an amazing community we are a part of.

I would like to personally thank the staff, students and families for the support you have all given me as I stepped in for Matthew as Acting Principal.  Your support and commitment is much appreciated and has helped get the 2023 year off to a positive and energetic start.

On Monday, we welcome back Matthew as he returns from successful surgery and even more successful rehabilitation.  I know Matthew is eager to return and we will see him bounding through those gates on Monday.

We also congratulate Mr. Tony Castellano (our PE teacher), his wife Lina and their son Salvador as they welcomed a beautiful baby girl Sienna into their family.

NCCD (Nationally Consistent Collection of Data)

Please read the attached letter below which explains which explains the purpose of the collection of data for students requiring adjustments to be made to support them in their learning and engagement at school.

NAPLAN

Congratulations to our students in years 3 and 5 who participated in NAPLAN testing. Our students displayed a positive, can-do attitude towards NAPLAN and we are very proud of their displays of resilience throughout the week.

NATIONAL RIDE2SCHOOL DAY

Today was National Ride2School Day and it was great to see so many of our students and families ride, scooter, skate and walk through the gates.  We were fortunate to have Ethan, from the Bicycle Network, handing out stickers to students.

BULLDOGS PLAYER VISIT

On Tuesday 21st St Augustine’s had the pleasure of having 3 current Western Bulldogs AFL players visit the school for a fun Q and A, photo and autograph session. Jack MaCrae, Mitch Hannan and Ryan Gardner took the time out of their busy training day to meet all of our students in the hall and answer many interesting and challenging questions about life as professional AFL players. Our students put the 3 players to test, with some well-thought-out questions about who their favourite teammates were, when they started playing AFL and who will win the Premiership this year (of course all 3 said the Bulldogs!) to name a few.

Our school was thrilled to have the players visit and we look forward to expanding our relationship with the Western Bulldogs. A few new young supporters have been made no-doubt.

Great team spirit was in action this afternoon.  RED, BLUE, GOLD, GREEN chants could be heard from afar.  Our first sport organised by our Year 6 sports captains was tunnel ball. Congratulations to BLUE TEAM for their amazing efforts and win!!
