Acting Principal's Report

We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.

We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people.

May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.

Welcome to Week 6!

We are half way through a very busy term and we can confidently celebrate a settled approach to learning across the school. Children have connected with friends and are being supported in their learning environments with focused teaching groups, individual conferencing and targeted assessments to support engagement and success in learning. A big thank you to all of our staff, including our Education Support Staff, our Administration Team and of course our teachers for prioritising an engaged and settled start to the year.

Learning Spaces

We are striving to create opportunities to engage families in our learning spaces with their children. Opportunities including supporting learning in the classroom, visiting open mornings to share student learning and special events where we invite our community to celebrate at school. On regular days of learning, we ask that families be respectful of student learning spaces, including common spaces within buildings. We respectfully ask that families wait outside of learning spaces until dismissal. Thank you for supporting this arrangement.

Thankyou Thankyou Thank you!!!

Our school community is lucky to have families that go above and beyond to improve our school in so many ways.

I would like to share our gratitude to the Brennan Family, the Radisich Family and the McCaskill Family for their time and effort in installing a Gaga Pit and an accessible Cubby House for children to enjoy during break times. We could not have completed the work without you!

Please keep your eyes out for photos in coming newsletters to see these new play spaces in action.

Readiness for Learning

A reminder also that school supervision does not commence until 8:45 am. From 8:45 am, students are expected to enter classrooms on arrival at school. Between 8:45 am, and the commencement of formal learning at 9:00 am, students are expected to follow a schedule in their classroom to prepare for the day, e.g. organise their resources for the day, sign in, complete Ripple, return notes. This organisation time allows for learning to start on time and also offers an opportunity for social connections within the classroom.

School Council Elections

Have you though about joining the School Council this year?

Self-nomination forms are still available from our administration office and are open until Friday 3rd March.

Should there be more nominations than vacancies, a ballot will then commence over the course of the following fortnight to establish the final membership.

Please consider nominating and joining a vibrant and active group of volunteers, who provide wonderful governance for our school community.

Farewell Assembly

We will be hosting a farewell assembly for Dale Power this Friday March 3 at 2:30 pm. Our school families and community are warmly encouraged to attend and acknowledge Dale's achievements and to give thanks for his time at Miners Rest Primary School. We hope to see you all this Friday afternoon.

Enjoy the rest of the week and we hope to see you all on Friday,

Kylie Nissen
