A very warm welcome back to school to all our students, staff and families. The beginning of a new school year is filled with excitement and anticipation for what is to come. This year we have so much on the horizon to look forward to and be thankful for – the ongoing revitalisation of our classrooms and spaces, the welcoming of our new Parish/School Pastor: Pastor Ben (arriving in April) and getting to know our new families. Congratulations and welcome to our newest families and Foundation 2023 who have started with a bang. My sincere thanks to all the staff for beginning the year with such enthusiasm and care in their privileged roles. On Sunday 29th January our staff joined with the Lutheran Church Congregation to celebrate mass together. We were lucky to have Pastor Robin fly up and bless us. Pastor celebrated and reminded us of the special vocation that we have as educators in a Lutheran School and the power of God’s Mercy/Grace through the lessons of the Beatitudes. Thanks to Pastor for leading our opening worship and to all the families who came to support our leaders as they received their badges.

A few reminders:

PARKING

We are lucky to have the purpose-built car park and kiss and go and our school provides a crossing guard to help the children safely across the road, yet we still have people parking illegally on the verge opposite school, ignoring the council signage and putting children at risk. People are still parking and pulling up on yellow lines out the front of the school and doing illegal turns. Please think about the safety of not only our children but the neighbourhood who use Kramer St to walk or ride home. Please use the carpark provided.

UNIFORM

There was a slight hiccup with the truck that had our uniforms on it, and it went for a wander around Australia. The orders are starting to filter out to families, and we expect to be fully restocked shortly. Thanks to the families whose children are in full school uniform including correct socks, shoes and hair ties. A reminder about jewellery, children may wear a wristwatch (smart watches must be locked in school mode or similar), one pair of stud or sleeper earrings, a plain chain with a small cross is also acceptable. Some children are currently wearing hats from home as we are still waiting on some more. Once the stock arrives at school hats will be expected. If you don’t have a school hat you can pop in an order, and it will be delivered when the stock arrives.

We ask for God’s blessings over our entire school community as we embark on another year of providing quality Lutheran Education for the children at Living Waters and as we strive to, as the Bilbies told us in their worship this week, LET OUR LIGHT SHINE each and every day. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or if I can assist you in any way now or throughout the year. I look forward to working with you in partnership to make 2023 a rewarding year. “Together we can do so much.”
