Project Compassion
With the beginning of Lent starting this week, we are also commencing our involvement in Project Compassion. In 2023, Project Compassion focuses on the theme For All Future Generations. Over the six weeks of Lent, students will hear four stories from all around the world – from Nepal to Zimbabwe to Vietnam, and even back home in Australia. These stories will explain the issues faced in each of these countries and highlight how Caritas Australia is working together with vulnerable people, empowering them to develop their strengths and create change in their own community. This is all made possible thanks to our wonderful Project Compassion supporters.
The classrooms will have small money boxes for the students to make their donations. It's a great time for students to earn some pocket money to donate to the cause.
You may like to offer to your children small activities like emptying the dishwasher, walking the dog or setting the table in order for them to earn some money towards Project Compassion. Any money donations are welcome!
Founder's Day Mass at St John's Church
Yesterday the parish community gathered to celebrate mass together and to honour some of those parishioners who have made significant contributions to school and parish over the years. At this year's Founder's Day Mass we heard the stories of Rosemary and Barry Jess. Isaac and Sophie interviewed Rosemary and Barry who shared their story.
It was a beautiful celebration of our parish community and an expression of gratitude for those who have been, and continue to be so generous in spirit to enable the Parish of St John's to continue to be the vibrant parish it is today.
