WORKING BEE

We are looking forward to our very first Working Bee tomorrow morning. We would love to see lots of parents and family members come along to support this community event. We will be focusing on re-mulching our playgrounds and garden beds, filling our sandpit back up (kids love taking our sand home in their shoes) and weeding our gardens. We will be kicking off at 9am. A sausage sizzle and drinks will be provided in appreciation for those helping out. Please bring along your wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes and gloves. We look forward to seeing lots of our families this Saturday from 9am. Children are most welcome to come along and join us.....many hands make light work :)

COLOUR EXPLOSION RUN

Wow, we have been blown away with the incredible fundraising efforts of our children and their families for our very first Colour Explosion Run. It is now only 2 weeks until we come together and experience all of the excitement and fun involved in the actual event. There is still time for students to create a profile and do some fundraising for this event. There are lots of incentive prizes for our students to earn through raising funds for our school as well. On top of this, any student who raises more than $50 will go into the draw to slime me!!! Please refer to the previous information regarding how to do this.

Just a couple of other points to clear up around this event:

  • On the day of the Colour Explosion Run, ALL students are asked to wear a white t-shirt. This adds to the fun of the event and makes the colour really stand out!!!
  • ALL students will participate in the event, no matter whether they raise money or not. We want all of our students to experience the fun of this whole school event. Every student will receive protective sunglasses on the day along with a rainbow headband.

OPEN AFTERNOON

It was so awesome to see so many of our families come along and join us for our Open Afternoon. We hope families had a great time coming through our Learning Communities, having some fun outside playing games and engaging with our staff. My apologies for being a little slow in cooking the sausages, but thanks so much for being so patient and understanding. We managed to feed everyone eventually!

ARRIVING AT SCHOOL ON TIME

Thank you to all of our parents and families who are doing their very best to ensure their children are arriving at school in the 8:30-8:35am window. As I mentioned in our last newsletter, providing our students with this window of preparation and settling in time for the day allows for them to begin their formal learning at 8:45am with confidence, clarity and calmness. We appreciate that mornings can get busy and there might be the odd occasion we are running late, but I encourage all of our families to talk to their children and plan together to make 8:30am the target arrival time every day.

STAFF CAR PARK

It has come to my attention that some of our families are continuing to use our staff car park as a pick up and/or drop off location for their children. I can’t emphasise enough that the staff car park is strictly for staff only. As we grow as a school, we have a number of staff who have varied times that their work day commences or finishes and as such we have ongoing car traffic within our staff car park throughout the day. It is simply not a safe location for families to be dropping off or picking up their children and I ask you to please adhere to this expectation. We thank you for your support in ensuring all of our school community members arrive and leave school safely.

PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE DAY

As part of the new teacher agreement, teaching staff have 2 Professional Practice Days in 2023. We have made the decision to use one of these days collectively on Monday 24th April. We will be focusing on further developing our assessment and reporting practices on this day. This means that Term 2 will commence on Wednesday 26th April, after the ANZAC Day Public Holiday.
