Message from the Principal

Survey, Grandparents/Special Friends Day, Winter Appeal, Father's Day Breakfast & Stall and Outdoor Learning Space

Thank you to those parents who completed the survey regarding the contents and frequency of our newsletters.

Based on the survey results, our newsletters moving forward will aim to be less content heavy, minimising the amount of teacher jargon used as well as an increase in the number of photos published. The newsletter will also be issued monthly with regular social media published weekly.

During Term 3, we hosted Grandparents and Special Friends Day. Our visitors enjoyed time in the classroom participating in a range of activities as part our Wellbeing Groups including trivia, cooking, STEM and art.

We then came together as a community for a paraliturgy in our Church followed by morning tea as well as skipping and singing performances by some of our students.

Thank you our Parents and Friends Committee and our parent helpers for organising the morning tea and to Mrs Donna Dunn for the delicious scones.

Also, thank you to Nicki and Maddi Durrant for preparing our skippers and to Rebecca Bode for preparing our singing students.

On the 11th August, eleven of our families joined some of our staff at Whitefriars College to prepare soup for those less fortunate than ourselves. This initiative formed part of our contriubtion to the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal.

150 containers of soup were prepared and are currently stored in our Parish freezer ready for distribution. We are fortunate to be able to join forces with our Catholic Secondary Schools and I thank Mark Murphy, Principal of Whitefriars College for the use of their facilities. Also, thank you to those of you who joined us on the night as well as those who donated produce.

In recent chess tournaments held at our school, we achieved some amazing results with Darren in Year 6 awarded Star of the Tournament coming first out of 84 participants and Sophie L in Year 3 winning a gold and silver medal for her efforts.

Both students have qualified for the Open Semi Final and Sophie has also qualified for the Girls State Final. Our school placed second and fourth in the respective tournaments. The Semi and State Finals will be held in Term 4 at St Bridget's.

During Book Week, staff and students dressed up as there favourite book character. Thank you to Mrs Donna Dunn for preparing the fun activities for the children.

At our Father's Day Breakfast, our skippers and singers performed again with increased confidence from their last performance.

Thank you again to our Parents and Friends Committee and our parent helpers for preparing the breakfast and for organising the Father's Day Stall.

Finally, the shade sail for our outdoor learning space was installed during Term 3 thanks to a recent Governement grant. Some outdoor picnic settings have been purchased to finish off the space and will be ready for use in Term 4.

I hope everyone has the opportunity for a well earned rest over the holiday break after another busy term.

We look forward to seeing everyone for the beginning of Term 4 on Monday 3rd October.

Kind regards

Mrs Robyn Thomson
