Wellbeing Respectful Relationships
As part of the Respectful Relationships program, the students in Grade 1 and 2 have been learning about healthy relationships. This is part of Topic 8 Positive Gender Relations.
The first lesson looked at fair and unfair play. The students were able to question and challenge the use of aggression in problem solving and think of new possibilities for more positive peer relationships at school.
The children really enjoyed playing games that required collaboration, turn taking, following rules and accepting the outcome of a game.
As part of the learning, the students talked about ways they can show success when playing fairly. The success criteria included that students can:
- Recognise the ways in which the rules of the game assist people to play the game fairly.
- Understand that unfair play or breaking the rules of the game can lead to conflict.
- Identify that it is equally important for boys and girls to play in a fair and friendly manner.
