Term 2 Week 2
VIRTUAL BOOK CLUB
Scholastic Book Club is offering a virtual book club catalogue for orders in Term 2. This means that parents and families can register directly through Scholastic via the LOOP platform (Linked Online Ordering & Payment).
Once you place your order via LOOP I will complete the final submission. Orders will still be delivered to the school as usual and sent home with students (or arranged to be picked up).
Please note the recommended return-by-date is Monday 18th May (Week 4) and orders placed beyond this date will incur a home delivery fee.
Please see the following link to access the virtual catalogue: https://scholastic.com.au/book-club/virtual-catalogue-1/
PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE 2020 UPDATE
Please note the updates made to the Premier's Reading Challenge this year:
- Rules – students will still need to read 12 books by September. However, they can be ALL FREE CHOICE. I understand that it may be difficult to get to libraries so any book students choose to read will be accepted – whether on the Premier's Reading Challenge book list or not.
- Collecting reading records – students will still need to submit their records. I will accept a scanned copy via email to this address: tegan.dart688@schools.sa.edu.au
- Awards – I have been informed that awards will be sent to our school in November as in previous years
NEW BOOKS DISPLAY
Our current display at the library entrance is full of new books, including Picture Books, Fiction and Non-Fiction titles for all ages! Students are able to reserve these titles for borrowing in the coming weeks and are more than welcome to browse through them during their library time.
BORROWING
Increases to student loan limits will be continuing into term 2. Please note the following:
Receptions – Can borrow 4 books
Years 1, 2, 3, 4 - Can borrow 8 books
Years 5, 6, 7 – Can borrow 10 books
Parents – Can borrow 10 books
RETURNING
Students can either place books they want to return in their classroom library box or directly into the green returns box in the library (please see photo). Please note that lost or damaged books will incur a $10 payment.
OVERDUE BOOKS
School policy states that $10 is the replacement cost for each book not returned. Your child will be unable to borrow until the book(s) are returned or the $10 payment is made to the Tirkandi library or Front Office via cash only. If the book is found the money will be refunded.
