House Athletics Carnival

Congratulations to the grade 4,5 and 6 students who competed at the House Athletics Carnival at Duncan McKinnon Reserve last week.  And a big congratulations to Fairhaven, the winning house!

It was a challenge for all the students to remember and follow the competition rules that they have been practising in sport in the last few weeks, as they have learnt the complexities of the sprint, throws, jumps and middle distance event techniques.

This has been made even more challenging by the fact that, due to Covid, all 3 year groups were competing for the first time in 2022.

It was great to hear students not only encouraging their peers but also giving coaching points to their friends to assist their performances. The competition is 3 fold, a house competition, house age champions and competing to earn a spot on the district athletics team.

This year we have a set up a new scoring system which means that we can keep event records from year to year.  The records to carry forward from 2022 are below.

Many, many thanks to all the grade teachers, Mr Orr, Nurse Cecile, Mrs. Farfalla, Mrs. Stephens, Mrs. Day, Ms. Underwood and the wonderful parent helpers who gave up their day to assist, we really cannot do it without you.
