YEAR 2 IN THE ART ROOM

Year 2s are learning all about the life and art of Emily Kame Kngwarreye.

Emily Kame Kngwarreye was an Aboriginal Australian artist from the Utopia community in the Northern Territory. She is one of the most prominent and successful artists in the history of Australian art. The Year 2 students are excited to create their own art works inspired by Emily.

Here are 2 facts we have learned about Emily Kame Kngwarreye this term:

1. Did you know that a Qantas aircraft is named Emily Kame Kngwarreye and painted 

     based on her work Yam Dreaming?

2.   In 2017 Emily Kame Kngwarreye’s painting entiltled, Earth's Creation 1, was sold for 

      $2.1million at an auction in Sydney. It was created in 1994 and shown in art galleries 

      around the world.
