Classroom Reports

Foundation and Year 1

A warm welcome back to Term 3. It was nice to see everyone's smiling faces and to hear their holiday stories.

This week in Library, we listened to the story, 'Two Blankets' and made a 'Word Blanket'. Not sure it will keep us warm on these cold days! Mrs Prevos' Grade One Literacy group and the Foundation children will be able to include these words, split diagraph, and diagraph on the 'Word Blanket'. I'm sure your child will be keen to share what these words mean. We also had Mr Forrest read us the story of 'Green Eggs and Ham'. We surprised him with a delicious thank-you meal. Taste as good as it looks!

In Numeracy we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes. We will be designing and making our 3D dinosaurs using all the cylinders, rectangular prisms, and spheres we have collected and sorted.

Years 1 & 2

In Literacy the Caterpillars have been learning to infer when reading. We know that sometimes the author doesn’t always tell us everything so we have to look for clues in the text and think about what we already know, to work out what is happening. Our reading is getting very fluent, well done to all who are reading consistently at home.

In maths we are working in our maths groups to learn more about multiplication and division. We know the difference between equal and unequal groups, how to describe groups and how to make arrays.

This week we will be making a time line with our baby photos. Do you think we have changed over time?

Year 9

On Friday the 17th of June, the Year 9 students had their ‘Try A VET Day’. Our students really enjoyed trying a variety of VET courses that they could complete next year and interacting with others from different schools. Some of the highlights included getting to use the NCTTC gym, cooking and completing activities Blindfolded during Sport and Rec. Big thank you to Barry McKenzie and co from the NCTTC for a great day.

At the end of last term, our Year 9 students received consent forms for the upcoming Snow Camp. These are now due. If you have misplaced it, please contact Ms Milne or find it attached below.

'Celebration of the Arts' Evening 2022

We are delighted to announce that on September 2nd, 2022, Wedderburn College will be hosting a ‘Celebration of the Arts’ evening, as a showcase of students’ skills and passions within all areas of performing arts.

Each student, from Foundation to Year 12, will be performing their class’s act, which will be selected with student input and facilitated by school staff. Students from Years 5 to 12 will also be invited to audition to perform on the evening as individuals or in groups. Google Forms will be provided soon to homeroom teachers for students to sign up to audition. Auditions will take place in Week 1 of Term 3.

We look forward to seeing the many talents that our students have to offer!
