Congratulations

During the June school holidays, a number of St Bede’s students took part in the Hockey Victoria Junior State Championships (JSC). The JSC is the pinnacle junior hockey event of the winter season for aspiring juniors across the State of Victoria.  

The competition runs for four days, with six metropolitan zone teams and four regional zone teams in each age group, in both boys and girls Under 13, 15 and 18 Divisions. Students from St Bede’s College were involved in the Southern Metro Sharks in the Under 18 and Under 15 teams.

Congratulations

To Luka Demuth (M7) who has been selected for the Team Vic Football (Soccer) '12 Years and Under' Squad, to represent School Sport Victoria (SSV) at the School Sport Australia Football Championships to be held in Rockingham WA from 16 to 21 October 2022.

Considering the number of players that tried-out for this squad, being selected is an enormous achievement for Luka. We wish him every success in the Championships this October!

Congratulations

To Liam Stevens (Year 10) who recently competed in a national sailing competition at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron.

Competing in an Open Age Division, Liam finished 7th nationally and overall first in Victoria.

Liam took up sailing seven years ago, and is a member at Sandringham Yacht Club. Liam loves the competitive side of sailing as well as the social side. He has made great mates along the way, and has met people from all over the world.

To those considering sailing, Liam say’s “you don’t need your own boat to start with”. He encourages others to ‘have a crack at it’ and says it is a ‘great sport’.

Liam hopes to take his sailing as far as possible, and trains all year round.
