Hello, from Carolyn.

Hello everyone!

The start to this term has certainly been challenging with staff and students away unwell. I cannot thank the amazing staff at BPS enough for all that they do to support each other and myself. There have been many occasions already this term when teachers have stepped in to cover another teacher's class, or taken an additional class in their release time, or covered someone's yard duty. Our ES staff continue to do their amazing support work including stepping in to help when a fellow ES member is away . What a pleasure it is to work with such a great team.

Child Safe Code of Conduct.

We will be reviewing our Child Safe Code of Conduct to ensure it meets the requirements of the new Child Safe Standards. If you are interested in reading and giving feedback on our draft Code of Conduct, please let me know and I will email it to you - carolyn.tavener@education.vic.gov.au

Headlice.

Yes, those annoying little critters are here and loving it! If your child's hair is long enough to be tied back then it must be tied back on school days. Please check your child's hair regularly for headlice and if you find any lice or eggs then treat your child's hair before they come to school. Many families find the most effective way of eradicating the problem is to use the nit comb and conditioner method, which means you are checking your child's hair more than once a week. For helpful information you can go to https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/health/conditionsandtreatments/head-lice-nits

Arrival time for students.

A reminder that students can be dropped off at school from 8:30am in the morning. Four mornings a week, we offer before school activities so that working families can drop their children at school earlier than 8:30am: 8am Monday & Tuesday is Library Club, 8am Wednesday is Breakfast Club, 8:15am Thursday is Walk to School. If your children are not participating in those activities then 8:30am is drop off time. A staff member is on duty in the yard from 8:30am.

Cuppa with Carolyn.

My next 'cuppa with Carolyn' is on Friday 12th August at 2:30pm. I hope that if you came to the previous catch up, you can also make it to this one. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting with the parents/carers who were able to come last term. We had a lovely time getting to know each other and talking about our wonderful school. If you couldn't come to last term's, I hope this time and day suits and you will be able to come along.
