Physical Education

Hello Families,

Wow what a couple of weeks in sport, I am still exhausted thinking about it :)

Division & Eastern Metropolitan Region (EMR) Finals

Our year 6 and some year 5 students have been participating in the Division and EMR finals these past two weeks.  Our Boys AFL took out the Division Finals last Monday at Elgar Park to get them into the EMR Boys Final which is being played at Templestowe Reserve as I write this!! We wish them all the best!!! Today our Girls AFL team are also competing in the EMR Girls Final at Kings Park Upper Ferntree Gully! We also wish them the best of luck also!  But most of all have fun!!

On Friday our Girls and Mixed Netball Teams headed to Mullum Mullum Stadium to compete in the Division Finals.  There was some tough competition and both of our teams worked so hard and played well in all games.  It was the Girls team that were the eventual winners in their pool and are off to the EMR finals on the 16th of August at Waverley.

Thank you to all of the parents who have driven, watched and supported our AFL and netball teams over the past few weeks.  Special shout out to Jen Eslick and Cate Pigeault for coaching our netball teams on Friday and to Mr Crowe and Mr Flintoff for coaching our AFL teams this season!

4-6 Athletics Day

Our year 4-6 Athletics Day will be held next Thursday 18th August at Box Hill Athletics Track.  I am hoping for a day like this!  The students will have an opportunity to compete in most events however they will receive an email this week to opt in for events such as the hurdles, 800m, 1500m events. This day then helps selection for the District Athletics Carnival scheduled for the 7th of September at Doncaster Athletics Track.  An Operoo will be sent out later this week, so please look out for this, helpers may be required on the day, your assistance is always appreciated.

Spotlight on our PE Program

Year 1 & 2

I have been exceptionally impressed with our year 1 & 2 students and their commitment to our Aerobics Unit these past few weeks.  While Aerobics Oz Style is not for all, they have mastered the grapevine, double touch, run and hop and many more! I think we have some future aerobics stars among us and may perhaps need to think about an Aerobics sporting club in the future.  Well done everyone!

Weetbix Active Bands

The Bands have been distributed to all students, if your child has missed out because they were away, please have them ask their teacher as they may have it. It has been great to see that 162 students have registered an active band.  We have been logging in at school during PE when the students wear them so hopefully this is registering on your apps at home.  It is great to hear the students talking about it and what they have been doing to gain extra points which means more activity at home which is great to hear!! If you need any further information about these bands, please go to https://weetbixactivebands.com.au/about

That is all from me!!
