EXCITING NEWS 

The sustainability leaders have been working hard on a secret project to encourage St James students to take part in a statewide competition run by KidSafe. 

Our leaders thought it would be a great opportunity for students to jump on board given that we are so fortunate to have a farm on our beautiful grounds.

The girls went around to classrooms last week to present the competition and the students responded in great numbers to get involved.  Mrs. D and I will submit their entries. The students have until the end of term 3 to submit their entries.

FARM SAFETY COMPETITION

Kidsafe Victoria’s Farm Safety Creative Competition has returned for 2022 and is inviting all Victorian preschoolers and primary school-aged children to get involved for its third and final year!

The competition encourages children to take an active role in exploring farm safety issues by submitting a video, radio ad, poster, collage, illustrated story, or comic strip based on this year’s theme ‘Farm Safety Heroes’.

The theme centers around how we can all play a part in making the farm a safe experience for everyone, whether we live, work on or are visiting a farm. Kidsafe is encouraging everyone to be a real life ‘Farm Safety Hero’ and ensure we all work together to keep our current and future generations safe.

Not only are there fantastic prize packs up for grabs for the winning entries in each age and entry category, but the winning submissions will also be featured in Kidsafe Victoria’s month-long social media awareness campaign targeting Victorian parents and carers with important farm safety information.

To help get kids started on their entries, Kidsafe has developed a Teachers Pack, Parents Pack, and an Early Childhood Pack.

The packs include background information on farm safety and hazards, tips on creating entries and resources, and lesson plans on a range of farm safety topics.
