Hospitality News

Hospitality students in Year Ten continue using a variety of spices in Asian inspired recipes this term.  A recent highlight was hosting invited staff to a class Dim Sum (or Yum Cha) shared meal.  Our Year Eleven VET Hospitality class have been consolidating why teamwork in the industry is crucial, visited the Albany Visitor Centre as an introduction to their tourism unit, and cooked some delicious appetisers, most recently a tapas meal.

The Year Twelves are mastering their Barista skills, preparing and serving a range of espresso coffees, and making a range of salads to utilise the knife skills and food presentation techniques they are studying.

They are known as the RAKS group. Random Acts of KindnesS. Yesterday they were packaging up beanies and scarves with warm messages for the homeless/soup kitchens. They have asked Anglicare to assist them with the distribution. During previous sessions the students have:

  • Put cards in the Year Twelve lockers with messages of encouragement.
  • Cleaned all the white boards in the classrooms.
  • Created gift packages which were randomly placed in Year Seven and Year Nine lockers after NAPLAN testing
  • Making cupcake awards with encouragement messages and placing them on the doors of classrooms and offices.
