MUSINGS FROM THE HUB

End of Semester Exams in the Malgobila Hub

This week all students in Years 10, 11 and 12 completed End of Semester exams in English and Mathematics. The Year 12 students are now well practised in the exam protocols that we expect at the College and worked very hard to do the best that they could. Year 11 had the chance to consolidate on last year’s introduction to formal examinations and we are looking forward to hearing their results.

The highlight of the examination program was the effort of the Year 10 student cohort. Some of these students completed their exams in our Wallace Street Exam Centre (formerly the Wallace Street Campus Library) and some in the Malgobila building. Our team of external exam supervisors were extremely impressed with the students’ efforts, behaviour and manners, right down to the simple, respectful fact that they all pushed their chairs in when they finished and left.

We expect our students to arrive early and in full school uniform and it was wonderful to see that almost all students managed this simple expectation. Staying for the entire allocated time is the best way to ensure that students have done their very best and at the same time respect the rights of the other students who are working hard. Students have adapted to this expectation quickly and we look forward to this being just another part of our examination protocol at the College, whether they be internally set, or externally set exams.

Please, if you have a Year 10, 11 or 12 VCE student, congratulate them on their efforts this week. A top class performance.

We hope that your family has a restful long weekend planned and that you stay safe. School returns on Tuesday 15th June which is the start of Semester 2 meaning the commencement of VCE Units 2 and 4.

Italy in the Senior Hub

Senior VCAL students Bree Thomson and Hannah Chatfield invited VCAL teachers and Senior Hub staff to enjoy an Italian themed lunch.  The students created a menu of traditional Margarita Pizza, Lasagne and Spaghetti Bolognese plus garlic bread.  The students prepared the lunch as part of their VCAL project and to show their appreciation to their teachers.

All staff members thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere and were very appreciative of the girls’ efforts and professionalism.
