From the Principal

Week 4 Term 2 2021

Dear Parents and Guardians

District Cross Country

All the best to the cross country team tomorrow as they represent St Bede's at the District cross country carnival at Macleay Park.  Hopefully the weather remains fine for them.  I will let our community know how they went in next weeks newsletter.

ECSI Surveys

I ask that as many parents as possible  take the time to complete the survey.  I understand that the survey is quite time consuming but the feedback received will help St Bede's continue to strive to provide the best education (religious) for our students.  I thank you for your cooperation.

Pupil Free Day

Just a reminder to all parents/guardians that next Friday, 21st May, is our pupil free day for Term 2. The staff will be undertaking professional learning on  "Wellbeing"

Naplan

This week and next week (make up tests) our students in Year 3 & Year 5 will be assessed in the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). NAPLAN assesses literacy and numeracy skills in reading, writing, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. The assessment provides parents and schools with an understanding of how individual students are performing at the time of the tests. NAPLAN is just one aspect of our school’s assessment and reporting process - it does not replace ongoing assessments made by our teachers about student performance. NAPLAN also provides schools, education authorities and governments with information about how education programs are working and whether young Australians are meeting important educational outcomes in literacy and numeracy. Parents are expected to receive the results in September.

St Bede's Day

St Bede's day is quickly approaching.   The committee has organised a fun packed day for our students to help celebrate the event.  Ms Reed will provide further details shortly.  The children are to wear their sports uniform on the day.

Mother's Day Dinner

Last Thursday, Larissa and I  were fortunate enough  to drop in and say hi to all the mothers at the  Mother's Day dinner. It was a wonderful evening and one that everyone enjoyed. The committee did an amazing amount of work to make sure everything was perfect for the mothers. On behalf of our community we say a big THANK YOU.

Have a great week

Brian
