Aerobics

At the conclusion of the Showcase that launched the 2021 season, Senior Aerobics Captain, Kasey Cutler addressed the squad and audience of supporters.

Just like many other people who have performed tonight my aerobics journey started in year 7. I remember going to the tryouts and being so nervous because I had no idea what to expect or even really understood what aerobics was. Little did I know that one day aerobics would be such a big part of my life.

I was lucky enough in year 7 to be placed in a team with people that are some of my best friends today. Not going to lie, we were a pretty good team, with an amazing coach and worked hard during the year until we finally got a medal at spring challenge. I remember we were all so excited and happy when we found out that the next year we will be moving up into stage 2 all together.

At this point in 2017 the aerobics program was tiny compared to what it is now, and stage 2 was the highest stage we had. Fortunately, the next year we started a new team. Competing in the creative stage was a lot of fun and during my time in this team we were able to go to nationals twice.

Even though the memories of our first Nationals performance have been blocked out in my brain (if you know you know) it was an amazing experience to be one of the first teams to qualify for nationals. Luckily the next year we had much better memories, as well as many other teams and soloists joining us for support.

At the end of 2019, myself and my friends (Hannah, India and Luca) who have been in a team together since year 7 knew we wanted to try something new and challenging.

Thankfully since the continuous growth of the program another new team was introduced.

We were now able to compete in the Secondary stage and continue to develop the aerobics program further. The Secondary team is what I am competing in now and I can speak on behalf of my teammates that we are all grateful to be a part of an amazing program that has let us to be pushed and challenged year after year.

Starting Aerobics in year 7 has created many opportunities for me including coaching which I quickly realised this was a massive passion for me and something I cannot wait to continue to do in the future.

My Aerobics journey has been something that has helped me through everything, even through 2020 when the competitions were online and very stressful.

However, I wouldn't have ever had these opportunities if it wasn't for two very important people in my life, Miss Molina and Rikki. Both of them have been my coach for multiple years now and have helped me with my aerobics journey, among many other things within my own personal life.

If it wasn't for them continuing to grow the program and put in hours of work than MGSC Aerobics wouldn't be a thing, So i just want to end my speech on a massive thank you to them and the things they do, not only for the program but also the people that are apart of it. Thank you!
