Top Designs and Top Screens excursion

On Thursday 13 May year 11 and 12 media students attended an excursion to Top Designs and Top Screen. This included visiting both the Melbourne Museum in Carlton and ACMI - Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Flinders Street.

At the Melbourne Museum a selection of Victoria's most talented VCE students' media work from 2020 was displayed. It was an insightful experience to see other students' work that they had created especially in the time of COVID-19 and helped many of us to plan and get inspired for our own upcoming major production. Ranging from photography to podcasts to storybooks the media productions were amazing.

It also assisted the year 12s in the creation of their folios and ideas for production and gave year 11 students an insight into what Unit 3 & 4 of Media will be like. It was incredible to see the behind the scenes of individuals' creations and being able to see these students' ideas develop from a concept to a product. We were lucky enough to then attend ACMI to sit down and watch the top 16 selected media films for Top Screen made by VCE students. This was followed by a Q & A panel with the student filmmakers to hear about their thoughts, pre and post production experiences and also give advice for tackling media.

The day was an amazing experience that has inspired us all to create media projections in our own ways, in the hope to represent MGSC at Top Screen or Top Design in the future. A huge thank you to Ms Blumenstein and Ms Caridi for organising the day and for Fiona Faulkes who assisted us on the day.
