At this point in time DET are yet to provide an update on what the new restrictions will mean for schools and based on previous experience this may not come through until later tonight or even tomorrow.  As soon as this has been provided we will provide all staff with further details.

  • Mask breaks can be taken as needed but please ensure physical distancing when taking a mask break.
  • All staff and students who are unwell, should stay home and if displaying COVID symptoms, should be tested and notify the school that this is happening.

Premiers Reading Challenge

Premiers Reading Challenge is now open .

Reading Is Everything

Reading is important because it develops our thoughts, gives us endless knowledge and lessons while keeping our minds active. Books can hold and keep all kinds of information, stories, thoughts and feelings unlike anything else in this world.

Reading is Everything! As the colder months descend on us and the days get shorter, there is no better time to grab a book and curl up under the doona or in front of the fire. By any measure, reading for more than 15 minutes per day has enormous benefits for life outcomes. 15 minutes is the magic number. Not 14, not 10, definitely not 5. 15+ minutes of active reading helps students achieve higher academic growth than their peers. 30 minutes is even better and 60 minutes has enormous benefits. Studies show that only 18% of students read for 30 minutes per night and that at 60 minutes, student growth is on average 48% higher than the average, no matter what the child’s background.  If you want your child to succeed, read to them and give them plenty of opportunities to read. If you still have pre-schoolers, the research shows how significant being read to is, enabling students to start school with reading skills well above their peers.  Reading is everything and is the key to your child enjoying a successful future.

Cold & Flu Season

Colds and Flu With the spike in colds and flu at this time of year, we appreciate your assistance in keeping your child home until they are completely well. If your child presents at school with coughs and sniffles, it places all students, especially those students with compromised immune systems, and staff, at risk. We are legally required to collect and store digital or hard copies of absence notes and request that these are sent to school . Thank you for your support.

Thank you

A big thank you to Tracey who allowed our School to attach the Bell realestate board to her fence for a few weeks. LPPS really appreciate your support. Thank you.

We would also like to Thank Bell real estate Yarra Junction for their prompt work in getting the great sign ready and up at the start of Carter street. LPPS really appreciate all your efforts and support. Thank you.

Attendance

Ensuring your child comes to school EVERY DAY is the most important thing you can do to support your child’s learning. Did you know that missing one day a fortnight is the same as missing four whole weeks of school a year? If this occurs every year from Prep to Year 12 that adds up to 1.5 years of school missed! Whilst there are often good reasons why a student can’t come to school it is vital that holidays are planned during school holidays where possible and not during the term if it can be avoided. This link will provide you with some common reasons students miss school and the recommended way for you to manage this. Please contact your child’s teacher or a member of the Principal Class Team if you would like support getting your child to school EVERY DAY.
