Deputy Principal's Update

“We learn more by looking for the answer to a question and not finding it than we do from learning the answer itself.”

Dear Parents,

Last week I had the opportunity to attend a sports day as coach of our Year 5/6 Girls Football team along with our Year 6 Boys netball team.  It was a brilliant day attended by all of the schools in our Port Phillip District Sports Association.

I have handed over my page to a couple of authors from Year 6 who have written reports on the day.  I hope you enjoy their work and some of the pictures from the day.  It's not often you can say you are a Premiership Coach!  (Full credit to the girls and boys who were the stars of the day!)

BOYS NETBALL

On Friday the 5th of April 2021 people went to go compete in Boys Netball & Girls Football. In the Boys Netball we won 5 games and had a draw-that put us into a spot in the Grand Final!  Sadly we lost, 4-1 but we came second. I think we all had great time, and we would like to thank Mr. Koole for entering us into this competition, Mr. Ferguson for being the the Boys Netball coach and Mr. Perry for being the Girls Football coach.

GIRLS FOOTBALL REPORT

On Wednesday 5th May, an amazing group of grade 5 and 6 students competed in a District Girls Football event in Tootgarook. We played with great team spirit and encouraged one another during our games. Using some of the training tips from Mr. Koole, we played with everything we had and were so excited to make the Semi-Finals and even more so when we won the game.

We then made it into the Grand Final against Red Hill and played our best, growing as a team. There was some awesome tackling and great ball handling skills during the game.

Having fun!

Mr. Perry’s promise of hot chocolate and a movie at school was great motivation (Not sure I agreed to all of this!-Mr. Perry) but it came down to us girls working well together as a team that led us to walk away as winners of the Grand Final

A very big thank you to Mr. Koole for all his hard work making this day possible and the teachers  and parents who watched and supported us.
