Junior School

Welcome Back to Term 2!

We hope you all enjoyed a relaxing and fulfilling break.

Firstly, the Junior School Team would like to extend our congratulations to all Year 7 students for the successful completion of their first term at secondary college. It is an exciting, nerve-wracking and utterly exhausting experience, and we, along with the rest of the school community, are proud of your efforts – and we trust you are too!

The Junior School Building buzzed with yet another fantastic Coffee Morning at the end of March. To staff, thank you for opening your classroom doors and inviting visiting families to observe their students at work. To families, we hope you enjoyed seeing (and possibly slightly embarrassing!) your Year 7 in the active school environment.

Our 7s attended their first “Elevate” study skills session in the last week of term, where they learned a number of tips and tricks on how to organise and manage their studies. Year 8 will have their “Elevate” session this term. It is essential to begin creating positive study habits early, and we know our students will maintain and build on these skills throughout the year.

The last day of Term 1 saw our Year 7 cohort celebrate their term with a morning viewing of the film “Wonder”, before gearing up for their very first Ringwood Secondary Cross Country. Our Year 8s, experts on track now, participated in their second whole school Cross Country with great enthusiasm and maturity. Well done to all!

Our Year 7 and 8 students were given private access to the RSC Mental Health Carnival, were they enjoyed inflatables, arcade games, ice-cream and more. It was exciting and rewarding to see our students engaging with all the Carnival had to offer, and reflecting on what positive mental health means to them.

By the same token, the Year 8 cohort are looking forward to their REL8 Wellbeing Day, where they will visit EV’s Youth Centre and participate in workshops and activities run by Maroondah Youth Services, Legal Aid and Aquahub (Croydon).

A reminder that, being Term 2, students should now be wearing their Winter Uniform. The Junior School Team will expect all students to be adhering to the Winter Uniform policy by the start of Week 3.
