Carlsruhe Country Fair

Carlsruhe Country Fair

Saturday 30TH November 2019, 10 am-4 pm

Nicholson Street, Carlsruhe

We're striving to make this year's Carlsruhe Country Fair zero waste

Why Zero Waste?

We live on an amazing planet, the only one in the entire universe (that we know of) that supports life. Our planet is under enormous stress from over-consumption and waste of resources.

Carlsruhe Campus is a unique part of Woodend Primary School life. Many parents select our school because of the wonderful year at Carlsruhe experienced by Year 4 students. During this year, students study the environment around them, learning about all our natural systems. Woodend Primary School offers a deep immersion into an environmental focused curriculum at this campus, and parents, students and teachers all take great pride in the work done at this campus each year.

It's vital that we support that learning and lead by example at the Carlsruhe Fair.

Here's how you can help

1. Please bring your own water bottle.

Given the open fields to roam, the amusements to explore and the entertainment to be had, you'll need to stay hydrated. You can guzzle away and have dewy skin at zero cost and for zero waste when you bring your own water bottle and refill it at the water station donated by Western Water.

2. Carry your own shopping bag or swan around with a wicker basket.

There are going to be so many treasures you'll want to purchase on the day. Bring your wicker basket or shopping bag so that you can carry your bounty with ease, comfort and style.

3. Put your rubbish in the correct bins at the Fair.

We'll have some compost bins and recycle bins put in highly visible positions at the Fair. Our students are making signs with pictures for them so that even our youngest fair-goers can do their bit for our precious planet. The compost bin at the Carlsruhe Annexe is one of our educational tools, so it's very important we put the right things in it.

What we're doing as organisers

1. Any food-stall that we're running will be using old school cups, crockery and cutlery.

The wonderful local waste action group, helped by our students, will be washing against waste. We may need to supply hand cream afterwards!

2. No single-use plastics or bags will be used by our stallholders.

We've asked all vendors to not use single-use plastics or bags.

Throwaway plastics didn’t exist when the Carlsruhe Annex was built, let’s try and remember how people had fun back then as we all enjoy this family-friendly day out!

Give a child in need a great day out

Amusement wristbands are now on sale at the early cockatoo price of $12.

There are many families and kids going through a rough time or who may not be able to afford to come to the Carlsruhe Fair.

This is a day of celebration for our school community and we want all our families to be able to come along to celebrate.

Why not purchase a pay-it-forward amusement wrist band for somebody and make a child's day?

Pay it forward wristbands can be bought via QKR or from https://events.humanitix.com.au/carlsruhefair
