ASCA: Australian Sacré Cœur Association

Sacré Cœur has had the mandate of ASCA from late 2016 until the end of 2019 when Stuartholme will assume this mandate.    During these past three years considerable achievements have been made by the President, Sophie Jackman, to ensure the sustainability of ASCA; by fostering a closer relationship between Sacré Cœur, Kincoppal-Rose Bay and Stuartholme Alumnae Associations, learning from each other, sharing our ideas and activities and ensuring transparency and accountability to all our alumnae. Jane Murfett, as Treasurer, established an efficient and transportable financial system which will simplify this transition.

The ASCA website was decommissioned in April 2019, but ASCA will remain connected via our School websites. The AMASC website is also under reconstruction by the dedicated 2018-22 Board Member and we look forward to its revamp.

AMASC: Association Mondial des Anciennes et Anciens du Sacré Coeur

An Extraordinary General Meeting was held in Joigny in October 2018 and Paola del Preta, from Italy, was elected President. The theme of her presidency is: Let’s live together the Family of the Sacred Heart. The AMASC website will now be managed by one of the European AMASC Board members. This presidency appears to be addressing many of the issues our ASCA committee raised under the previous President. As well, Paola plans to meet with the RSCJ to discuss how AMASC can support their missionary work; redefine the concept of hospitality; and plan a World Congress on a more modest basis and hosted by an RSCJ school.

Our congratulations and thanks to Liz Vinning on her appointment as the Mission Coordinator for the RSCJ Australia and New Zealand Province. Liz’s role in fostering the unique charism of the RSCJ at a time when the lay community is vital to the sustainability of the RSCJ is significant for us all.
